Frequently Asked Questions About Singles Therapy
Q: How long should I plan to be in singles therapy?
My approach to singles therapy (or “relationship therapy for singles”) is structured around an end goal, so that you don’t feel dependent on your therapist to have confidence in your dating life. I generally see clients for 8-12 sessions, usually scheduled weekly. However, since everything we will do together is customized to your needs, we may end up working together for more or less time.
In addition to my standard 8-12 sessions, I offer “refresher sessions,” standalone sessions so we can “check in” if you need a boost or need some support or advice as you consider a new relationship. And when the time comes, I can help you transition to couples therapy if you and your new partner would like to jump start your relationship and set yourselves up for long-term success.
Q: How do I know if singles therapy is right for me?
As humans, we are made for relationship. We need it. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Every single one of us brings our own family history, emotional baggage, and beliefs about love into our relationships.
If you have ever felt like you could use some help navigating what you bring into your relationships, frustrated that you always seem to choose the “wrong” partner, or just want to be sure you’re set up for success in your future relationships, singles therapy is likely a great fit for you.
When you work with me, you’re not just getting “dating advice” or a “listening ear.” You’re getting a licensed professional with years of training in this very topic. I’ll help you become a healthier, happier person … and ultimately a better, happier partner.
Q: What do singles therapy sessions consist of?
Singles therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. Each week, we’ll work through a combination of talking and therapeutic exercises that are tailored to you. I’ll even help you through “Love Questionnaires,” assessments to calculate romance connections with a potential partner. Each time we wrap up, I’ll give you some takeaways and exercises you can put into practice right away, so you can start seeing results after our very first session.
